I just received my first Wedge yesterday and it's painfully obvious that Meade has changed the design but not the Instructions.
You are going to find some parts not shown, and there will be parts in the instructions that you wouldn't get. When you take the
Wedge Body out of the box there will be a metal rod mounted in the top of the body where the Tilt-Plate goes. You MUST remove this
to attach the tilt-plate. But, do not assume that it's a 'Packing Brace' It is actually part of the new Latitude Adjustment Control and replaces
the L-Bracket shown in Step 5. You attach it to the inside of the body in the curved tracks used buy the bottom of the tilt-plate. Then thread the long bolt with the three prong cap into the offset hole in the rod and screw it up till it contacts the bottom of the tilt-plate. That is the new Latitude adjustment.
You are also going to have a lot of bolts with knobs on them. These replace all the bolts you see in the instructions that have 'hex heads'
I was about to send it back to the vendor but kept asking myself why anyone would machine a threaded hole into a 'Packing Brace' It finally 'hit me' about five hours later.
Also, Meade is still showing the old instructions on their site.
Finally, the new design looks superior to the old one. I just wish they would have thought it through.
