Most likely you are over-exposing (very common problem when first starting out). Try reducing the exposure time...it will need to become very short, just a small small fraction of a second.
I have imaged jupiter with an ETX-90 & LPI (some years back now ;-) so I know for sure you can do it. These instructions, while written for the DSI, should translate very easily to the LPI:
