This M42 shot is 350 images of 8 seconds each. The format was FITS3 so there is some mishaping of the stars. I used a layer mask to overlay the trapazium area so that it was not blown out. I also combined all three FITS files (I split the colors in the FITS3) into an B&W LUM layer and erased starts with bleed from the color layers to get rid of the bleed.

This shot is M54. Each shot was 1 second. There was a total of 540 frames stacked for 540 seconds. This shot was taken in FITS3 format so there is some star bleed. Levels adjusted and sharpened in Photoshop. Equipment: LX200 8" at f3.3 - IR filter removed (I could not get it clean!)
