M31 Andomeda Galaxy Mosaic

Object name / Catalog Number: M31 - Andromeda Galaxy
Camera (specific model): Meade DSI-Pro II
Number of Exposures & Exposure length: 4 Frame Mosaic, LRGB Each Frame L=30x30 seconds (120 x 30 total), RGB = 30x20 second each (120x30 seconds each). Total exposure time 4 hours
Scope: Model, Aperture and F ratio: Meade LXD75 SN8 8 inch F4
Filters used: Schuler RGB, Meade IR


Additional Information
Guide camera/scope: Unguided
Image Capture Software: Envisage
Processing software: MaximDL for align and combine of individual channels and creating Lum Mosaic. PhotoShop CS to combine all other channels, apply curves,and merge LRGB layers
Other: This is a 4 frame mosaic created using no guiding.  The individual frames from each subframe were aligned and stacked in MaximDL.  The LUM Mosaic (of 4 images) was combined in Maxim to form the single LUM layer.  Once imaported into PhotoShop, the other sub frames were manually aliged with each other over the LUM layer (using it as a template) to form the 4 frame nosaic for each color layer.  The 4 layers were then combined into a single image.
