I think this is called the pinwheel galaxy, anyways it is M101.
Everything that could go wrong went wrong tonight:
- my alignment was off, only allowing 60 second FITS
- I kept doing weird things in Envisage, like leaving the auto contrast button unchecked
- one of my drive gears set screws came loose
- just as the Eagle nebula started to come into view, my autostar locked-up (maybe too cold 28F?)
- finally I noticed my scope's lens had frosted up (not usual here in okie land, I went all winter without it, maybe due to the recent humidity which is visible in tonights shots)
But I got my photo fix and my jones is somewhat quenched.
